10 Things You Didn’t Know About WWE In 1999
7. More Titles Were Given Away Than Any Year
1999 was an enormous year for title changes. Cinchs were certifiable hot potatoes. The WWF Title and Intercontinental Title changed hands more than some other year in their presence by then. Titles changed hands such a great amount in 1999 that people were simply doling them out!
Giving off titles wasn't a totally new strategy. Andre the Titan gave (or rather, sold) the WWF Title to Ted Dibiase. In 1999, this happened three times, more than whatever other year. It began when Shane Mcmahon gave the outdated European Title to Mideon, who reestablished it. Later that year, that same cinch would be given by Jeff Jarrett to Stamp Henry, who helped him vanquish D'lo Tan the earlier night at Summerslam to win both the European and Intercontinental Titles.
Several months after the fact, the English Bulldog won the In-your-face Title on Smackdown and promptly gave the cinch to Al Snow.
